How can essential oils be used?
On the skin
In the bath
In diffusion
Essential oils are volatile aromatic compounds extracted from plants through methods such as steam distillation or cold pressing. They are the concentrated essence of the plant, capturing its aroma and beneficial properties.
With just a few drops, essential oils can become part of your skincare routine and help create the atmosphere you want at home. They are used in two ways: diluted on the skin (in a massage, in your cream or in the bath) and in diffusion, to scent the air.
Each essential oil has an aroma and properties that depend on the plant it comes from and how it is extracted. That is why it matters to choose 100% pure, high-quality, well-stored oils.
Used correctly, essential oils are a natural ally for your personal care routine and your everyday wellbeing.
Applying them to the skin, in a massage or added to your cream, is the most common way to use essential oils in cosmetics. The golden rule is to always dilute them in a vegetable oil (jojoba, sweet almond, argan…) before applying: as a guide, 2-3 drops per tablespoon of vegetable oil for the body, and less for the face. Do a patch test on a small area before first use and avoid the eyes and mucous membranes. Some oils, such as citrus oils, are photosensitising: avoid sun exposure after applying them.
Diffusing essential oils is an easy way to scent your home and set the mood you want: more relaxed in the evening, fresher and more invigorating for work or study. Just add a few drops to a water diffuser (humidifier) or a nebuliser, which diffuses the oil without water for a more intense aroma. Air the room from time to time, don't diffuse continuously for hours and take extra care around babies, pregnant women and pets.
No. Our essential oils are for external use only: they are meant to be applied diluted on the skin or diffused into the air. Do not ingest them, do not apply them neat and keep them out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have any health concerns, check with a professional first.
